Fall Shop Tour

I like to joke that at Nell Hill’s, Christmas is a year-round thing. We buy in January, receive and tag merchandise over the summer, and kick things off with fall, which I consider to be the beginning of our holiday season, in August. Not long after the first fall foliage hits the floor, pine garlands and ornaments begin to appear.

Before I start to gush about Christmas, though, it’s only right that I show off the absolutely fantastic fall decor that we have in the shop right now. Perhaps because it’s nearly 100 degrees here in the Midwest and I melt into a puddle the moment I walk outside, I long for crisp autumn days where boots and a sweater are a must. Thankfully when I get to work in the morning, I leave the heat and humidity at the door and enter into a fall fantasyland! Come take a tour with me!

When you walk through our doors, you walk right into a pumpkin palace! Pumpkins are by far my favorite fall thing and we certainly celebrate them with this display. Not only can they be found inside and outside of the gazebo, they are perched on top as well! We’ve surrounded the structure with fall foliage and stems and other sweet fall accessories that are perfect for styling into your autumnal vignettes. Don’t miss the floating vintage wood chairs that are home to tiny houses surrounded by colorful leaves. So whimsical!

Working our way to the left, we find a gorgeous neutral sitting area with a grey sofa and two black and white plaid wingback armchairs with gunmetal nail heads. The black cabinet in the background is the perfect backdrop for crisp white accessories. Brass and other warm metal accessories update the space for the fall season!

Our garden area still has hints of summer with a few remaining ferns and some of our favorite pots and planters, but sturdy bushels of wheat mark the changing of the seasons! We’ve styled them atop an ivy-covered archway but they would look absolutely fantastic in a vignette at home. I love to bring a bit of the outdoors inside in every season and the containers in this area are perfect for the summer-to-fall transition time.

We have two more stops on our fall tour! First, a tabletop styled for the shop that mixes a fall palette with crisp white. This is a perfect example to show that you can in fact mix bright hues with muted shades and still achieve a harmonious look. The ceramics on this table make for stunning statement pieces and can absolutely be dressed up and displayed year-round.

I’ll send you on your way with a classic blue and white tabletop with a pumpkin twist! We use blue and white as a neutral here at the shop so we say it goes with everything. It also just so happens that blue and orange are complementary colors, and they sure do pop when you pair them. We’ve stacked various blue and white plates and bowls and topped off each place setting with its own mini tureen – a must-have for soup season!

There is quite a bit more fall to wander through, but you’ll just have to pop in to see it! 😉 Thankfully, our Fall Open House is just around the corner. Join us Friday and Saturday, September 9th and 10th, for all the fall fabulousness we have on display. Sip a glass of bubbly as you browse gorgeous stems and accessories. We’ll be open from 10am to 6pm both days. Until then – happy decorating!
