Spring Open House 2020 Recap

I know we are still technically a little way off from the first official day of spring, but that’s no longer stopping us from celebrating the new season! After this weekend at our Spring Open House I am going full steam ahead into springtime.  One of my favorite parts of being the steward of Nell Hill’s is seeing everyone’s reactions when they come in and see the shop, especially during our open houses! To be able to meet you and see the delight and excitement on your faces when you see our displays is an amazing feeling for all of us.  The whole Nell Hill’s team works incredibly hard getting all the details perfect (from setting the rooms to pouring the prosecco) so we can bring you our seasonal visions and weekends like this make it all worth it! I would go on, but I know you are probably eager to get to the photos!

This year we combined our annual Tabletop Weekend with our Spring Open House so we could bring you all the table inspiration you love paired with our spring favorite items and fabrics as an official kick-off to this fun season!  We had so many full and unique tables set up throughout the shop, set for all occasions from casual dinner to Easter brunch.  My favorite part of these tables is – of course – how versatile they are. We featured small seasonal touches in many impactful forms, from decorative top plates to table coverings.  For special holidays I find myself wanting to use my antique dishes that I hold near and dear, and we try to keep that in mind as we provide inspiration in our table displays!

I love decorating for the seasons, and not just during the holidays.  It can be a challenge, since it is easy to skew a bit too whimsical and throw off the balance of a room that you have worked hard to curate! This year we brought in bunnies galore to make it easy (and chic) to add some spring flair.  I love incorporating rabbits into my home this time of year because not only can I claim them as the Easter Bunny next month, but they work all season as a reminder of how spring is the season of rebirth and rejuvenation.  Of course, I can’t resist throwing in a few ducklings and bird accents as well -we have to start planning for summer next anyway!

Thank you for all the fun and support this weekend – I can’t express how much it warms my heart! I am already looking forward to our next Summer Open House in May, where all of the lake house essentials and our patriotic red, white and blue splendor will be featured in full force!  I might even throw in some dog days of summer with a new version of our fan favorite chinoiserie dog bowl design…you heard it here first! Until next time – happy (seasonal) decorating!
