What is going on with this June weather in Kansas City? It’s usually August before this type of heat and humidity reach us! It makes me want to pack up the family and find some fresh (hopefully breezy) air at the nearest lakeside abode. However, with a newborn at home it seems that dream will have to wait a bit. In the meantime, since I can’t be submersed in a cooling lake, I am submersing myself in beautiful lake décor!
Memorial Day weekend is soon upon us, and with that the start of a lovely and leisurely lake season. Whether just visiting a lakeside abode and wanting to bring some of the magic back to your neighborhood for the summer or venturing out to your special getaway, the rustic chic lake aesthetic is beloved by many. To me lake inspired décor is fun, free, and a bit whimsical, too! It brings to mind walks in the fresh air, lush greenery, and sparking campfires in the evening. I for one can’t wait to be spending more time in the great outdoors as the seasons turn and decorating my home and outdoor spaces is half the fun! While I wait to enhance my own yard, I had a lot of fun playing with our new outdoor furniture in Mary Carol’s beautiful backyard.
While we’ve been feeling the heat of the sun for a few weeks already, it’s now officially summertime! Summer has always been a special season, full of entertaining, family and friends – but without the stress of the winter holidays that usually accompanies those types of gatherings! Summer is the time to kick back with those you hold dear and enjoy a nice cold beverage (lemonade for the kid, rosé for me 😉) on the patio. As Spring fades into Summer and the days get longer, I love to highlight reds, whites, and blues in my home décor. Both Mary Carol and I love this classic color combination, and it’s especially appropriate this time of year with the Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day holidays happening over the course of a few months. With summer off to a busy start, I have been craving a retreat, an oasis where I can relax and renew.
