We’ve had the most incredible week in India and are back on KC soil after a long day (a full 24 hours) of travel! I can’t wait to share our experiences, stories, and the products we’re bringing into the shop soon. But for now, back to regularly scheduled programming…
This week, we’re heading to a corner in the shop that showcases the magic of versatile design. With a fabulous grey and white pinstripe sectional as the centerpiece, we’ve been switching out various elements like pillows, artwork, lamps, rugs, and other furniture pieces to create different looks and feelings. This sectional has been a staple lately, providing a neutral, clean foundation for so many different styles. We’ve had fun experimenting with different accessories, artwork, and accent furniture to showcase how the same sofa, with a few changes, can be totally transformed.
Vibrant and Colorful

In one transformation, we added bright, patterned pillows and bold artwork to create a lively and energetic atmosphere. A natural rug grounds the space while a colorful Asian toile on pillows, cheerful floral artwork and statement lamps bring it to life. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns and colors to create a dynamic and fun look—there’s so much personality!

Natural and Neutral

For a more tranquil atmosphere, we opted for soft, neutral pillows and natural wood, warm brown accents and traditional artwork. A navy and neutral Oushak rug with touches of light blue and green adds so much depth. Greenery enhances the tranquil feel and brings a touch of nature indoors.

Bold and Sophisticated

In another transformation, we combined an eclectic pillow pairing with traditional artwork and crisp white lamps. A plaid, Greek key, and leopard print pillow combo makes for a look we love! The same dark rug as in the look above mixed with colorful accents adds an artistic flair to this space and pulls out colors in the pillows. By mixing and matching different styles, this creates a personalized, lived-in, and sophisticated look! Layering your lighting with both overhead and accent lighting creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that adds another element of visual interest.

Quick Tips
We hope this area inspires you to experiment with your own home decor. Whether you have a favorite piece of furniture to work around or a neutral foundation upon which to build from scratch, switching out accessories and creating a fun pillow combo can breathe new life into your space. Here are some tips to help you get started:
- Choose Complementary Colors: Pick a color palette that complements your existing furniture and accessories. Explore options that you might not initially go for—they might make a big impact and may be an unexpected fab combo.
- Incorporate Different Textures: Mix textures like velvet, linen, and wool to add depth and interest to your space. Think wood furniture, upholstered pieces, leather accent upholstery, ceramic lamps and so on!
- Experiment with Patterns: Don’t be afraid to mix patterns and prints to create a unique and dynamic look. Push yourself out of your pattern comfort zone!
- Layer Your Lighting: Use a combination of ambient, task, and accent lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Consider floor lamps, table lamps, and wall sconces to add variety.
- Add Greenery: Incorporate plants and flowers to bring life and freshness to your space. They can add color, texture, and a natural element that enhances the overall decor.
