The Scents of Autumn

I’ve heard chefs say the eyes eat first, but I sometimes think it is really the nose.  When I walk into a room, I want the soft fragrance of all things lovely to surround me.  That is why I am so excited that candle season is almost upon us! Fall scents have such a warming effect and truly embrace you in comfort, which is something that is always appreciated. From classics like Pumpkin Chai (for all the pumpkin spice fanatics) all the way to Gatherings (a favorite of mine), there is no shortage of unique and delightful fragrances to bring your home into this wonderful season.

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Since Starbucks is already serving Pumpkin Spice lattes I feel justified in celebrated fall starting now!  To ease into this wonderful new season there are some stunning scents reminiscent of the delicious fall latte. The mixes of wild pumpkin, spicy chai, cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon makes for a captivating, freshly baked pie aroma you’ll want wafting through your home all season long. Some of my favorites are Pumpkin Chai, Pumpkin Incense, and Orange Clove.

Cool Weather and Autumn Leaves

Even as the heat wave in Kansas City continues, I dream of the days when our green trees start to turn color and a cool breeze starts to blow.  Completing the crisp-weather picture in my head are the deliciously cozy aromas that fall brings like spicy cinnamon, comforting vanilla, and earthy pine. All of these rich aromas make me want to curl up with a good book and watch the leaves drift. Some of my favorites are Gatherings, Fall Foliage, and Cinnamon Vanilla.

Cozy Blankets and Warm Fires

As I long for all things Autumn (the cool temps, chunky knit sweaters, fuzzy blankets, and heavy socks included) I know that what I am really craving is adding back all of my seasonal plaids and leather accents to my spaces.  During the colder months, nothing makes me feel cozier than surrounding myself with my favorite textiles by a roaring fireplace. Some of my favorite scents to set the mood are Leather, Tobacco, Wood, Patagonian Leather, and Oxford Tweed.

With all of these scents burning both at my home and the shop I am finally starting to feel like Autumn is soon to arrive. Which is just in time for our Fall Open House on September 17th-19th! Come see our fabulous fall displays and smell these wonderful scents in person, you just might find a new favorite! Until next time – happy decorating!
