Fall is Here: Open House Recap, Favorite Vignettes, and Seasonal Inspiration

This past weekend we welcomed so many of you into the shop for our Fall Open House. If you weren’t able to make it, consider this your personal walkthrough. Whether you were soaking up the last stretch of summer or simply couldn’t get away, we missed you. The good news is that the shop is fully dressed for fall and ready for you whenever you are.

Fall at Nell Hill’s always brings us back to the pattern mixing and color stories that feel like our roots. Rich textures, layered textiles, unexpected combinations that somehow feel familiar. This year’s displays are full of those moments, and the team had so much fun pulling together vignettes that show how many different directions fall can go.

Here are a few highlights from around the shop.

Florals Go Fall

I love watching florals shift into fall – it’s a true testament that almost every pattern and textile can work as well in one season as another with just a few shifting elements around it. You’ll see some florals sprinkled throughout the shop paired with plaids, velvets, and warm neutrals. They feel cozy without losing their charm. Florals are one of my favorite ways to bring fall into your home without going full harvest.

Table Settings and Tablescapes

Our table displays are fully set for the season. From layered chargers and warm-toned napkins to ceramic birds, woven textures, and centerpieces filled with branches, berries, and seasonal stems, these tablescapes are meant to inspire everything from casual weeknight dinners to holiday hosting. Each table has its own personality, and even small details like a patterned napkin or a textured runner can shift the whole mood.

Going into our dinnerware and fine China area, this round table is styled to the brim with candles, pumpkins, and seasonal florals. It could easily be a sweet dining table or an entry table at home. Around it, you’ll find baskets of pillows, folded throws, and shelves of dinnerware that mix beautifully with fall tones. It’s one of those spaces that makes you want a whole new set for each season…. and we don’t blame you.

Halloween Haze

Halloween has officially arrived in the shop and it’s full of gold accents, black details, skeletons, and playful touches that still feel elevated. It’s a fun surprise as you move through the fall vignettes and a reminder that the season has layers. If you like decorating early, this is the perfect time to pick up a few pieces.

Falling for Pillow Walls

The pillow walls have been refreshed and our workroom has been busy. Shams, fills, and new seasonal patterns are ready to go. You’ll see everything from classic plaids, florals, and autumnal toils. This is always one of the best spots in the shop to spark ideas for your own home. After all, a few new pillows can completely change a room!

New Bedding Moments

We have several new bedding displays that show how the autumn season can feel soft and layered without being heavy. As always, most of the duvets and pillows were made in our workroom, including a standout duvet in our Autumn Veranda fabric with three matching pillows and a bolster that stops everyone in their tracks. The upholstered bed in Woodland Oak is styled with pillows in our Seamus, Pointers, and Nantucket shams, all in Indigo colorways. These bedscapes are full of texture and color, and they’re a great example of how custom bedding can elevate a space.

Textiles Department

Before you leave the shop, make sure to stop by the textiles department. The team has brought in so many beautiful fabrics for the season, available by the yard and ready for whatever you’re dreaming up. Whether you’re planning to reupholster a piece you’ve had for years, design pillows, duvets, or a full room refresh, there are new patterns and palettes to explore. You can even shop our selection of shams, duvets, and fabric by the yard online.

There are so many different color schemes and styles that work for fall, and we’ll be diving deeper into those in a blog post coming up in the next few weeks. For now, we hope this little tour gives you a sense of what’s happening in the shop and inspires your own seasonal refresh. If you have any questions, contact us – we’re always here to help. We hope to see you soon and until next time, happy decorating!
