As the holiday season approaches, I’m thrilled to unveil another of our many unique Christmas looks here at Nell Hill’s. Each room in the shop has its own feel, and this particular look is a heartfelt nod to the kitchens of my childhood, where fruit was a central motif in our decor. I’ve mentioned this before, and we’ve had fruit-inspired elements in years past. This year, we’ve blended that cherished tradition with fresh, updated elements to create a space that’s both nostalgic and new.
A Symphony of Colors
This look is a vibrant celebration of fall hues, featuring rich reds, oranges, golds, and blues. The room is anchored by handsome wingback plaid and leather chairs adorned with nail heads that add a touch of sophistication. These chairs not only provide comfort but also serve as statement pieces, enhancing the room’s warm, inviting atmosphere. The elegant furniture is layered to create depth, with each piece contributing to the overall harmony of the space.
Fresh and Festive Elements
Greenery plays a crucial role in this look, bringing a lively feeling to the room. We’ve incorporated gold, green, and blue accents throughout, creating a cohesive and festive palette. The Christmas tree, sitting in a large blue and white chinoiserie planter, is a standout feature, blending seamlessly with the room’s decor and adding a touch of classic charm. The blue chinoiserie pieces add a traditional touch, while also infusing the space with a sense of freshness and elegance. Pomegranate, both the motif and the color, dot the space for an on-season fruity spin.
A Juxtaposition of Styles
One of the most exciting aspects of this look is the juxtaposition of moody, dark elements with fresh, vibrant ones. The berry reds and blues create a striking contrast, while the burl wood, metal, and marble elements add depth and texture. In one particular corner of the room, the combination of golds, reds, and greens creates a visually stunning and harmonious effect. The rich, deep reds bring warmth and a sense of tradition, evoking the classic holiday spirit. These reds are beautifully complemented by the lush greens, which add a fresh, natural element to the decor. The greenery, with its vibrant and lively tones, serves as the perfect backdrop for the other colors, grounding the overall look.
The gold accents are what truly elevate this scene. Gold adds a touch of elegance in the otherwise organic space, catching the light and adding a subtle sparkle that makes the room feel festive. The interplay between the gold and other colors creates a dynamic and sophisticated palette. Gold ornaments and accents reflect the light, creating a warm glow that enhances the richness of the reds and the freshness of the greens. This blend of colors, along with the thoughtful placement of ornaments and accents, results in a room that is not only beautiful but also full of holiday cheer and warmth.
Ornaments and Accents
The ornament selection in this space is all about gold and blue elements which form the foundation of our decor. We’ve added oranges, pomegranates, pears, fruit leaves, and even pineapples to bring a tropical twist to the traditional holiday look. These elements harken back to Christmases of olde, where fruits and other natural finery were brought in to spruce up the family home. The vibrant mix of fruity hues remain a classic, colorful holiday addition that can adorn any space (not just the kitchen)!
Bringing It All Together
This look is all about creating a space that feels both timeless and fresh. The combination of traditional elements with contemporary touches ensures that this holiday look will be a favorite for years to come. The rich colors, elegant furniture, and unique mix of ornaments, picks, and greenery create an inviting space that welcomes you in and makes you want to sit and stay a while.
