The “Bring the Garden In” Guide
Spring hits fast in Kansas City - one week it’s gray, the next everyone is outside, the farmers markets are buzzing, and suddenly people are ready to refresh their homes. Inside the shop, we feel that same shift and naturally gravitate toward lighter textures, softer colors, and pieces that make rooms feel as fresh as everything happening outside.
This is the season when we naturally start pulling in garden‑inspired elements. Not literal florals everywhere but thoughtful layers that make a home feel relaxed, textured, and ready for warmer days.
You too can “bring the garden in” and create a home that feels fresh and lived-in.
Start with Texture: Woven, Rattan, Cane & Natural Fibers
One of the easiest ways to create that feeling is through woven textures. Rattan, cane, wicker, seagrass are materials that instantly soften a room and add the kind of warmth that works in every style of home. Even small pieces like a woven tray on a coffee table or a cane‑front cabinet can shift the tone of a space – they bring movement and dimension, which is exactly what most rooms need after winter.

Botanical Art That Feels Collected
Botanical art is another element that brings a fresh note to your space. The key is choosing pieces that feel collected rather than seasonal. Hung in the right spot, these prints add an easy lift to a room, especially after months of heavier winter styling. A single large piece above a console or a simple grouping in a hallway can shift the whole mood of a room without adding visual clutter.

Natural Wood to Ground
Natural wood plays an important role in balancing all of these lighter elements and keeps everything feeling grounded. It adds warmth, structure, and a sense of balance next to softer textures and lighter colors. Whether it’s a side table, a dresser, or a simple tray, these pieces bring the kind of organic weight that makes a room feel intentional. Spring styling isn’t only about brightening, but creating contrast that feels calm and lived-in, and woods do this beautifully.

Fresh Palettes: Greens, Blues, Whites & Garden-Inspired Neutrals
Color is where everything comes together. This spring, we’re seeing a lot of greens, soft blues, warm whites, and earthy neutrals. These tones feel clean and calm without leaning pastel. They mix easily with existing pieces and make a room feel refreshed without requiring a major overhaul. Whether it’s a new pillow, a lighter throw, or a fresh lampshade, the smallest tweaks can sometimes make the most noticeable difference.

A few notes to add to your calendar before we wrap up! The shop will be closed for inventory on Tuesday, April 14. Additionally, our Summer Open House is coming up on Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2. Expect fresh styling, new arrivals, and all the inspiration that comes with a seasonal reset! And on Saturday, May 2, we’re excited to welcome back Cookie Bliss for a sweet pop-up in the shop. Until then – Happy Decorating
