Campfire Christmas: A Rustic Holiday Retreat

Perhaps it’s my Scandinavian and German heritage, but there is just something magical to me about a wintery woodland at Christmastime. The bare trees harboring hibernating creatures, nature blanketed in fresh white snow, the chilly, calm silence that envelopes us – all with the promise that this season will eventually come to an end and the world will be made anew in the spring. It’s this feeling we’ve aimed to create in our Campfire Christmas look, the most rustic look we have this season. This space is a cozy retreat, filled with the wintery beauty of the great outdoors.

A Lodge-Inspired Foundation

Our cognac leather and distressed black wood furniture sets the stage for a lodge-like atmosphere. Fresh, more contemporary shelving keeps the space from going too-far down the old cabin road, and offer a perfect spot for featuring decor and lots of books for long winter night reading. The furniture is complemented by birch wood and natural elements like twigs, acorns, and pinecones. The space is alive with whimsical woodland creatures, featuring friendly owl and squirrel ornaments that bring a playful touch to the décor.

Campfire Classics

Plaid ribbons weave through the trees and other Christmas greens, adding a classic, festive flair. Wispy berries and gold leaves are sprinkled throughout, giving the scene a hint of elegance. At the base of the tree, our visuals team has cleverly layered logs to create the illusion of a cozy campfire, perfect for gathering ‘round during the holiday season.

Woodland Charm

Ornaments are thoughtfully placed in baskets throughout the space, enhancing the natural, organic feel. Swags of greenery, whimsical bark pinecones, and cardinal ornaments add to the woodland charm, while an antique shelf and lanterns provide a note of vintage appeal. The antique piece that we recently brought into the shop (not pictured), with its weathered finish and intricate details, serves as a focal point, adding character and history to the space.

Rich and Rustic

The overall look is rich and rustic with a mix of different wood tones, dark reds, and black accents. Faux bois stars make a subtle yet impactful appearance, adding a hint of magic to the scene. The space is filled with various types of pine, including draping willow pine, and is adorned with hanging ribbons and bows with ornaments.

Warm Winter Meals

The table settings are a highlight, featuring rustic tableware with dark red accents and wooden details. The combination of textures and materials creates a warm and inviting dining experience, perfect for a cozy winter lodge.  Lanterns and other festive decor add interest to the tablescape, inviting you in for a meal over which you’ll wish to linger.

Come explore our shop and immerse yourself in the enchanting Campfire Christmas look – we hope it inspires you as you start decorating for the holidays (or if you’re like us, you’ve already had your decorations out for weeks)! Until next time – Happy Decorating!
