Christmas at Nell Hill’s: A Nostalgic “Toy Chest” Holiday
Christmas has arrived at Nell Hill’s (yes, we know it’s not even October yet! 😉), and I couldn’t be more excited to share the very first look of the season. Step into our Flint Hills room and you’ll find yourself surrounded by the magic of our “Toy Chest” Christmas look - a joyful celebration of red, green, and white, filled with a touch of colorful nostalgia and endless holiday cheer.
This look reminds me of the excitement of opening a toy chest as a child (and truthfully, the excitement I feel even now upon opening a chest – what treasures one may find inside!) - every detail a little discovery waiting to delight. The tree is the star of the room, dressed in classic red-and-green ribbon, glittering bells, and playful ornaments. Beneath it, baskets brim with festive baubles, inviting you to take a piece of the look home.
The mantel is just as merry, swathed in garland and tied with bold plaid ribbon. Golden bells and bright ornaments add sparkle, while a matching swag above the mirror ties everything together beautifully. And if you look up, you’ll see ornaments suspended from ribbons overhead — a detail that makes the whole room feel alive with holiday spirit.
Around the room you’ll find Santa, reindeer, and Christmas tree figures in gold and white, quietly anchoring the playful colors of the décor with a touch of elegance. Together, these elements create a space that feels classic yet fresh - a look that celebrates the best parts of the season without ever feeling overdone.
We can’t wait for you to see this Christmas look in person. Whether you’re drawn to the traditional red-and-green palette, the whimsical details, or the sparkling gold accents, our “Toy Chest” promises to fill you with the same wonder and anticipation that makes this season so special.
A quick note about Christmas in the shop – while we plan looks for each space, the looks themselves evolve over time as we welcome you and fellow shoppers through our doors. The photography we share here on the blog and in social media are snapshots in time and may not always reflect what a particular space looks like at the time we share it. We try to post timely photos, but we can’t predict when a particular item will fly off the shelf – what was here today may be gone tomorrow. Look to our social “Stories” for the most real-time updates or better yet, come visit us often (if you can) to see newness for yourself as it arrives.
