What Our Designers Are Styling Right Now: Palettes, Pattern & Inspiration

Our studio tables are overflowing with new palettes, fresh ideas, and rooms beginning to take shape in real time. Today, we’re sharing another round of in-progress flatlays from our design team. Each one reflects a different point of view, a different client, and a different story unfolding through color, pattern, and texture.

With our Upholstered Furniture Sale running through February 15th, it’s a fantastic time to take a moment to showcase how our designers are building spaces from the ground up.

Anne: Brown Is Back (and Better Than Ever)

Anne is fully embracing the return of brown, especially when it’s layered with color. She’s pairing warm wool plaids with chambray blues, fig, and apricot, creating a palette that feels both nostalgic and fresh. As part of this palette, she placed a new brown wool plaid on the Bradstreet chair and a chambray performance velvet on the sofa, treating blue as the ultimate neutral. Anne likes to think of blue as the “perfect pair of jeans” that works with everything.

From there, Anne layered in camel leather, a classic ticking stripe, and a touch of floral through a blue chinoiserie vine fabric she’d use on window treatments with a tassel trim. An animal toile and a coordinating rug pull the entire palette together, proving once again that plaids, florals, and stripes can live beautifully side by side. She rounded out the palette with warm wood pieces including a large brown sideboard and a leather campaign chest, grounding the room in timeless, collected charm.

Taylor S.: Lavender, Layered

Taylor’s latest project leans into lavender – it’s bold yet gentle, soft but expressive. She built this bedroom palette around tones that complement the newfound love of lavender in the studio, weaving in color through a striking floral that ties the entire scheme together.

What brings the design to life are the details: a playful multi-tassel trim, a whimsical embroidered tape, and textures that add movement and personality. The result is a bedroom that feels fresh, spirited, and beautifully layered and a space where color leads the way without overwhelming the room.

Dianne: Classic Blue & White, Reimagined

Dianne’s flatlay celebrates one of her favorite combinations: blue and white. It’s a palette that feels timeless, tranquil, and effortlessly sophisticated – a combination often seen in French Country interiors and classic, upscale homes. For this bedroom, she paired gentle curves in white upholstery with pale blue nightstands, creating a soft, calming foundation.

From there, she introduced yellow toile, plush velvets, and trims full of personality, including bumblebee details and fabulous tassels. Set against Schumacher’s bold dark blue and white striped wallpaper, the room becomes a fresh take on a classic pairing: airy, inviting, and the perfect retreat after a long day.

Meghan: Warm, Layered, and Thoughtfully Eclectic

Meghan’s design is a warm, collected mix of classic elegance and modern personality. For this project, Meghan gravitates toward earthy tones like rust, ochre, olive, and camel softened by muted blush and blue accents. Texture takes center stage - velvet, leather, woven neutrals, fringe, and graphic trims all play a role in adding depth and dimension.

By balancing traditional patterns with bolder, more contemporary elements, Meghan creates a palette that feels refined yet livable. It’s the kind of room that tells a story - layered, inviting, and full of quiet character.

Shelby: Sun-Washed Color with a Playful Southern Spirit

Shelby’s design is a layered, sun washed palette that feels effortlessly chic with a playful Southern spirit. Her goal for this project is to create a showstopping space that embodies pure happiness through color, pattern, and texture.

Soft blues and buttery yellows mingle across patterned textiles, trims, and prints, giving the palette movement and charm. Botanical motifs and classic stripes nod to tradition, while fresh color pairings keep everything feeling lively and modern. Rich textures, from woven fabrics to decorative fringe, add depth and tactility, inviting the space to feel as good as it looks. The overall effect is easy and elegant, collected rather than curated, and perfectly suited to her client’s light-filled room. Subtle references to New Orleans style emerge through the mix of classic patterns, soulful color, and relaxed sophistication.
