Pretty and Patriotic Styles

If you have been following along with me you know that while I have many favorite color combinations, red, white and blue is right near the top year-round! That is one reason I get so excited during the summer months when it come to the forefront of the shop. While in the other months I try to stay away from making this combination scream USA, these are the months where it is easier than ever to bring out a bit of patriotic prettiness to existing home designs – even those who don’t share my obsession with decorating with these hues.

While prepping for the arrival of a new family member – we welcomed a fresh new baby boy to the family early this month – I attempted to get ahead of the curve by planning our Easter fun far in advance.

Pretty In Pink: Galentine’s Day Luncheon

Happy February! This year is already going by so fast; I find it is important to slow down and celebrate the little moments when I can. One such moment is upon us – Galentine’s Day! No, I don’t mean Valentine’s Day, although that too is quickly approaching (that reminder is for you, sweet husband). Galentine’s Day, for those of you who haven’t seen Parks and Recreation, is a day meant for women to celebrate their female friendships. Love comes in all forms, and the love shared by gal pals is special in its own right! This year I decided to celebrate before the traditional day of February 13th and gathered some of my nearest and dearest friends for a small but festive luncheon full of big laughs, great food, and of course plenty of Galentine’s décor.

That means it is time to dust of our hostess hats and our homes for a family invasion. I take being a hostess very seriously and am always looking to make my guests feel welcomed, comfortable and relaxed when they come to visit.

The turkey leftovers are in the fridge, we’ve sent the family on their way home, and our bellies and hearts are full – that means it’s time to start panicking about Christmas presents! Only kidding (kind of), but it is time to start thinking about all the wonderful people in our lives and what we could possibly gift them. I have a few go-to favorite items that have proven to be favorites of my loved ones throughout the years. These are gifts are long lasting goodies that bring warmth to their homes long past the winter season!

After such a strange couple of years (what an understatement), I have been craving a holiday that feels like things are finally back to normal. There has been a huge demand for the holiday colors and décor of yesteryear whether that be our 30-year-old homeowners looking for a 90’s resurgence or vintage inspired goodies that take us further back in time. I was thrilled to find just the right pieces to create looks that encompass both memories from my childhood and speak to the magic of the season from the years that came before.

After the crazy and isolating year we just endured, it is wonderful that we are able to start gathering together again in time for the summer. Carts come in so many finishes and styles that you’ll be able to find one that fits into any space.

For many families (mine included), this year’s holiday celebrations are going to look a little different. While I won’t be hosting a grand dinner full of family and friends, I still want to make this Thanksgiving as special and meaningful as possible (because despite all the negative things about the year, we have so much for which to be thankful). One way I know how to do this (besides the copious amounts of food I am planning on prepping) is with décor.

Raising the Bar this Holiday Season

Holidays bring the most wonderful hosting opportunities! I find such joy in putting together the “perfect” table and decking my halls to the fullest in anticipation of my nearest and dearest joining me for some festive fun. However, as I prepped for my hostessing duties this year I was reminded of an area that is highly trafficked but sometimes neglected – the bar. I spend so much time thinking about my dishes and décor that sometimes I tend to play it safe with my beverage selection. Not this year! In order to take my bar to the next level I knew I would need some guidance. So, I picked out a few of my favorite glassware pieces and called out for professional help. Luckily, just a short drive away from us is a cocktail destination with all the style, skill and delicious sips that I needed to take my entertaining to the next level.
